I just returned a couple of overdue books that Beth had under her bed. If the police came and handcuffed me for her overdue books (she used my library card) I would be amused as well. This seems like something that should be handled in small claims court rather than with the police. In NYC they don't even arrest you for thousands of dollars in overdue parking tickets.
