Comments: Another two chapters of The Price is Right book down. In chapter three Bilts talks about how the show has changed over the years. More interesting is chapter four, in which he describes a typical day on the set, with details on how they get ready for the show: set decoration, hair and makeup, lighting and sound. It really is amazing how complicated a business it is to produce a show like this.
"Back in the depths of the CBS lot lurk the more than seventy games that we play on the show. They must be hauled out and prepared for a quick entry when they're needed. Some are so big they need jumbo-jet-style tuggers to push them down the hallway. Most can be pushed by a couple of grips (called that because they actually 'grip' onto something to move it...that's their job, really!). Each and every game that is brought out is tested and tested again. Some of these games, even to my surprise, have amazingly complex electronics behind them. That's why some of them cost over thirty thousand dollars to build."
