Walkies!
And I'm back. Just took a 42-minute walk along the Farmington Canal Trail. The sign on that tree reads, "Area for Rest and Prayer."

Wild boars, coming to a bookstore near you! I'm happy to report that the Johns Hopkins University Press will be publishing my book Reading Herodotus: A Guided Tour through the Wild Boars, Dancing Suitors, and Crazy Tyrants of The History. It should be out in the fall of 2012. |

I love views like that top view - I like the idea that you can go on and on...and there is something there at the end, but it's something we'll never know because we're not really there.

Though having at least walked to the end of *that* picture I know what's there....
The trail extends a good long way, and I've only seen a small segment of it. Actually, we are situated right near the tail end of it. (Pretty much where the passable green section meets the "in design phase" section at Connelly Pkwy in this map:http://www.farmingtoncanal.org/Maps.htm)
But I started my walk a little farther north than that, because it's a nicer section.

It looks like the area would be beautiful in all seasons. Nice place to walk.

Doreen! I haven't heard from you in ages. What's going on?
