In the news at King of Common Sense

Jason, the King of Common Sense, has written a haunting post about the horrible murder of a little girl by her father--worse, really, than just killing the girl outright would have been. As Jason explains. Read on if you want to get angry. This father needs to be raped repeatedly in prison.

Horrible story, but I'm afraid it's more an example of diminished intelligence than anything else. The fellow probably had no intention of killing his child, no understanding of the consequences of his actions.

2.

Why assume this? He had the presence of mind to lie about it about an hour later claiming she'd been kidnapped.

And frankly, I don't care much whether his intelligence was diminished. I'd still like to see him tortured.

As horrible as it was, I am still against the death penalty. I firmly believe that life and death is God's arena, not ours. I only accept capital punishment when we cannot guarantee the criminal won't be a danger to other innocent people in the future and that, in order to protect the public his death becomes necessary.

However, that doesn't mean I wouldn't WANT to kill him. From my own earthly perspective, he deserves it. Still, I have to trust God will lay down justice I can't even imagine.
