I'm happy to report that the Johns Hopkins University Press will be publishing my book Reading Herodotus: A Guided Tour through the Wild Boars, Dancing Suitors, and Crazy Tyrants of The History. It should be out in the fall of 2012.

She is getting to look very grown up, in a very positive way. I would never wish someone's childhood away, but in that particular shot you get a glimpse of the woman in the girl. Fascinating. Lovely girls you have, Debra.

Thank you, Maxine! Rebecca has always seemed very grown up to me, even when she was two or three. Though if I look back at pictures now of course she seems so young. Part of it probably had to do with the fact that she was quite vocal quite young. Melissa, who was much slower to talk, also seems younger.
