Wild boars, coming to a bookstore near you!

I'm happy to report that the Johns Hopkins University Press will be publishing my book Reading Herodotus: A Guided Tour through the Wild Boars, Dancing Suitors, and Crazy Tyrants of The History. It should be out in the fall of 2012.

Ghosts in the computer

This is a very cool idea, old photos overlaid over modern ones so that the figures appear ghostlike in the newer surroundings.

" The idea was to revisit historic photograph locations and take identical photographs, as if the camera never moved and the world changed around it."
The first one is the best, but I also like numbers 14 and 16.

It's a cool idea but most of the pictures either:

1) Aren't taken from the exact same spot
or
2) Have nothing in common with the original picture so there is nothing to make them even seem like they might be the same place. They look more like random pictures pasted together.

But it is a cool idea.

2.

That's true. That's why I think number one is by far the best.
