Here in the study
"Mom," the younger daughter just sat up from my lap to ask me. "When you want to grow up, do you get two wishes or just one?"
I told her that I actually hadn't gotten any, so there might not be any at all. But given her druthers, she'd choose just one.

You are quite mistaken Debra. Growing up we get plenty of wishes. But which ones are granted is mostly up to us.

I used the movie Aladdin to mention to my children that there were actually two instances in the Bible where a person was given an unrestricted wish. Solomon was one of them, and King Ahaz was the other. God was pleased with Solomon's request for wisdom, but King Ahaz wussed out and wouldn't ask God for a sign, so Isaiah prophesied the birth of Christ, which made it into Handel's Messiah.

Okay, I'm trying to figure out what the next in the series should be, but I haven't managed to come up with the math governing the progression of numbers. Anybody? How old should Douglas's sixth be?
